Las Vegas Party Gear on Task

Returning from Vegas, Tired but still on task.

A daily walks helps keep in on task when returning from Vegas

My first time in Vegas and I was shocked to see how a few days could impact my workout performance.

It wasn’t that Vegas life was anything crazy; let me explain.

Last week I flew out to Las Vegas for four nights, a quick in and out. In an effort to remain on task, my fitness schedule was completed before I left, hoping to get the cardio/abwork done while there.

If you haven’t been to Las Vegas let me tell you a little secret, prepare to do a lot of walking; a lot! In the hot dry heat you don’t really feel it, you are wrung out and exhausted when you are done.  The daily 2 to 3 hours of walking, combined with wild nights of wild dancing, is exhausting.

I have to be honest; I didn’t see the gym while I was there.

I should have seen a podiatrist instead!

All that walking made for some aching tired feet, legs too;

indoor cardio never came up when I rolled the “what to do” dice.

Vegas on Task
Seen just off the strip: Old MacDonalds.. No I didn’t eat there but these look like original 50’s arches

We drank plenty of water while we were there, the combo of the dry heat, salty restaurant cooking, and exercise; created a dehydration situation.  I noticed right before I got home my rings wouldn’t go on my fingers, I was certainly retaining water.  One of the last meals eaten was loaded with sodium, that combined with flying home-made a bad combination.

Once home the rehydration began, before the day was out I had literally flushed 5 of the 7 pounds out of my system, by the second day I was back to my normal weight, I have never found a happy medium with travel.

If any of you know the secret to staying hydrated while flying please clue me in,  I always keep a bottle of water with me but it never seems to help. In the end we did remain on task and returned from Las Vegas unscathed.

  1. It is difficult to remain fitness focused while in Vegas. We’ll get a chance to cleanse ourselves in June 2012 at Beachboady Summit back in the Sin City. I worked out in the beautiful fitness center at the Cosmopolitan my first day there, but the daily grind of trade show mega-walking coupled with evening receptions got me off track in no time. Bottom line here these are all lame excuses. My goal was to work out 4 of the 6 days there & came up short. I’ll have a workout partner next time & we’ll most likely get a much better nights sleep at the MGM Grand vs. the club hopping center strip section.

    1. I tried to get into the fitness center on two occasions and couldn’t get my key card to open the door. You’re right, when we go back we will certainly get our workouts in at the Beachbody Summit as we will be working out with the trainers themselves.
