Pieces of the Past: An update

I find that I am reflecting a lot about my level of fitness and how things have changed in the last few years. As my readers know, I have been involved in fitness since my early twenties, longer if you count working around our farm growing up. In the last few days I have really begun to notice some dramatic changes in my personal bodyfat marker, the story goes back to “Pieces of my Past” which was written in 2009.

If you don’t recall the story I will give a quick synopsis: I was young and inexperienced when I climbed a ladder, logging chain in tow, to clean the family chimney. Things went bad when I started sliding down the roof, caught the ladder and catapulted over to end up splayed on the ground, landing smack dab on the ladder. This fall had left it’s mark, youthful eating hid it for most of my twenties into my late thirties and early forties.

The scar tissue from my fall started to really show a few years ago, I first noticed after working with Beachbody’s P90X then really popped with Turbo Fire, which I started last spring. The tell tale dimples turned into a diagonal line across my right glute, eventually a 5″ shallow divot could be seen. Now it is almost two years later, that shallow 5″ divot has turned into a clear depression almost 8″ long. Not only is it visible when I dress but now when I am wearing workout shorts or swimwear I can see it. I might be the only one to notice because I know it is there, it is there, trust me on that.

Not that I mind that I have this secondary fissure to gander upon, which lets me know that my journey to reduce body fat is effective. My eating patterns have change a lot over the last few years, my level of dedication to fitness has changed as well. Many people post their before and after photos as testament of all their hard work but for me I will keep my success story photos under wraps..
