We stopped to the<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kokee.org\/index.php?the-natural-history-museum-visiting\"> Koke&#8217;e State Park museum,<\/a> then get a bite to eat before the decent to ocean level.\u00a0 The museum offers a wonderful view into the history of the island with well laid out <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kokee.org\/\">displays detailing<\/a> the history of the Kauai along with its inhabitants.\u00a0 Many of the indigenous plants and animals are on display, they also detail the invasive plants with a bit of history, or theory, as to how they arrived on the island.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/_sVKcBs4vE78\/TQ5fao7a3pI\/AAAAAAAABAs\/1J8St1VSfkA\/s1600\/27631161.jpg?resize=500%2C375\" alt=\"Waimea Canyon Kokee State Park Hawaii\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Waimea Canyon Kokee State Park<\/p><\/div>\n<p>At the small camp store and eatery, a place far off the beaten path, the offerings are not extensive.\u00a0 We ordered our sandwiches, to filled the void thinking we should have packed our own lunch.\u00a0 We enjoyed watching the chickens who entertain guests for food scraps, at this location the are like seagulls at the beach.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 489px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/_sVKcBs4vE78\/TQ5f9gQUbfI\/AAAAAAAABA0\/Pkgq50c1Rco\/s1600\/CIMG4761.JPG?resize=479%2C359\" alt=\"Roosters at Kokee State Park Waimea Canyon Hawaii\" width=\"479\" height=\"359\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Roosters at Kokee State Park At 4000 feet this rooster gets prime views from any roost.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Soon it was time to start our relaxing drive back down the mountain.\u00a0 I was on the opposite side to avoid looking at the steep drop offs, places where the land as fallen away leaving guard rails floating free of their earthy confines.\u00a0 I was relaxed enough to take\u00a0 a video of the ride down, I wish I had extended my arm out a bit more and cleaned the windshield but it is what it is.\u00a0 At the end of the video you really get a feel of the layout of the mountain drive and how the road is literally perched along the top of the ridgeline, Enjoy.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ncrgVIScTQc\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>A few photos captured from the video trip down the mountain.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 435px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/_sVKcBs4vE78\/TQ5lNEmFjQI\/AAAAAAAABA4\/aRoRDsvBmYE\/s1600\/20100207151911%25281%2529.jpg?resize=425%2C239\" alt=\"Heading down to ocean level from Koke State Park Waimea Canyon Hawaii\" width=\"425\" height=\"239\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Heading down to ocean level from Koke State Park<\/p><\/div>\n<p>When we returned to our resort we went for a stroll along the beach and saw all the sights you might imagine for Hawaii, <a title=\"Video tour of the Grand Hyatt Grounds\" href=\"https:\/\/bodynsoil.com\/blog\/2010\/03\/hawaii-trip-day-4-video-tour-of-the-grand-hyatt-grounds-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">in a tour of the Grand Hyatt grounds.<\/a>.\u00a0 stay tuned.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hawaii Trip Waimea Canyon Tour This is the second part of a two-part series on our trip up Waimea Canyon\u00a0 Hawaii Trip Canyon Tour part one.
