Now that we are here, we’d like to enjoy the entire weekend; we had to be out by 11am Saturday. We booked thinking we’d stay a few days in Boston, which we almost did.

Traffic at the bridge, just one more reason we shouldn’t leave on a Saturday. Of course, I say almost under my breath, if we drove the old road, we would have avoided these lines. (there might have been an included eye roll, I’m sure.)

Once over the bridge, we stayed off the highway, heading north via the coastal route. This drive is much slower on secondary roads, the experience is vastly more rich however. There are a lot of beautiful sections along the way, great scenery, and quaint villages. We lunched at Isaacs Restaurant, in Plymouth. Certainly the best view of the harbor, right from our table. The casino themed restaurant, offered keno and a great pub menu.

Fanueil Hall Boston, Mass Unsure what was going on here. Caption this photo is you can.

Boston was nice, the weather was perfect, Fanueil Hall crowded, traffic up the wazoo, parking was a no; we decided to come home. Luckily, we surprised ourselves with a right hand turn that put us right on the highway home. We had been thinking we thought we would be futzing through Boston forever. Suddenly dearest hubby wants to stop in Manchester NH for a quick drive, since, he said, “they really fixed the place up.” Manchester exits came and went, I thought he changed his mind, until he took Manchester 293. We quickly learned 293 lead to the beltline that took us directly back to the first exited, past few miles ago.

At this point I’m sure I showed him a map, a paper map.

To save face, he drives in to Manchester, I’ve seen it and it hadn’t changed much. I think we might be in the wrong side of town, I said, I’m sure the eateries are someplace close by, they weren’t. We ate quick stop fare and we liked it, or so I said in the moment.

The remaining drive was nice with sunny skies; our rental car had Sirius radio. After the “Manchester Incident” we put it on the comedy channel to loosen things up a bit. Note to self; remember this exit and refer to it in chutes and ladder term next trip.

The trip went great until, as we approached home after a long drive it hit me.

We locked all the vehicles and the house, the keys, safe in the house. Luckily this isn’t a post on how I got arrested breaking into our own home, I didn’t, thankfully.

Slow return from The Cape A trip to the Cape is always wonderful, what better place to catch up with friends, so laid back and charming.
