This steel-cut oat pilaf is a perfect side dish with a taste similar to stuffing, but much better.<\/p>\n<p>Often I overhear people talking about how long it takes to cook steel-cut oats but I don&#8217;t find that to be an issue in this quick recipe. No need to use your pressure cooker, or your <a href=\"https:\/\/bodynsoil.com\/blog\/2016\/02\/21-instant-pot-recipes-to-try\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Instant Pot<\/a>, as this recipe is on your table faster than most.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><script src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" async=\"\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p> <!--WPRM Recipe 34650--><\/p>\n<div class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe\">\n<h2 class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe-name\">Steel Cut Oat Pilaf<\/h2>\n<p>\t<img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" height=\"150\" width=\"150\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe-image\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/bodynsoil.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/23403389105_8aa52179ee_z.jpg?resize=150%2C150&#038;ssl=1\"\/>\t<\/p>\n<p class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe-summary\">\n<div class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe-ingredients\">\n<ul>\n<li>1 large Sweet Onion (thinly sliced (approx. 1\/3 cup))<\/li>\n<li>1 Tbsp Butter<\/li>\n<li>2 Tbsp Olive Oil<\/li>\n<li>1 cup Oats (Steel Cut)<\/li>\n<li>2 tsp Parsley Flakes<\/li>\n<li>1 pinch ground Pepper<\/li>\n<li>1 pinch Sea Salt<\/li>\n<li>1-3\/4 cups Broth (Vegetable, Chicken, Beef, Broth)<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n<div class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe-instructions\">\n<ol>\n<li>Cook onion in butter until limp and translucent, about 5 to 10 minutes; stirring often.<\/li>\n<li>Add oats and stir for 1 minute, toasting them.<\/li>\n<li>If using the Instant Pot add parsley flakes and cook using manual setting for 3 minutes. When time is up, use quick release or natural release; open cover and test, replace cover and keep pot on to soften oats.<\/li>\n<li>Add broth, bring to a boil over high heat, turn down heat and simmer, covered, until liquid is absorbed, about 15 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Stir occasionally add parsley flakes about 2-3 minutes before oats are finished cooking.<\/li>\n<li>Adjust with salt and pepper if needed.<\/li>\n<\/ol><\/div>\n<div class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe-notes\">\n<p>*personal note: I add toasted almonds to mine at the end for a little more crunch and I adjust the oil according to my dietary need.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--End WPRM Recipe--> <\/p>\n<p>We enjoy steel-cut oat dishes and would love to try a few more.
