Right away I found many documentaries dedicated to food and GMO (please say no) that I want to watch.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i1.netflixmovies.com\/dibsl9ebc\/image\/upload\/w_200%2Ch_297%2Cc_lfill%2Cg_north\/oxbyxfihl8y1njdg55o1.jpg?resize=200%2C297&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Netfilx the Future of Fod\" width=\"200\" height=\"297\" \/>I had the pleasure of watching &#8220;<a title=\"The Future of Food\" href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0427276\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Future of Food<\/a>,&#8221; a film released in 2004 that has been circulating around the globe. I had read a lot about the film but hadn&#8217;t had to opportunity to see it until just recently, thanks Netflix.<\/p>\n<p>Many of the topics discussed were familiar, seeing it played across the screen brought them back to the forefront of my thinking.<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><span style=\"color: #800000;\">One important question I had to ask myself was:<\/span><\/em><\/h4>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\">What type of issues are discussed in<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\"> &#8220;The Future of Food&#8221; <\/span><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\">what documentation is there to support it?<\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Percentage of farms\/farmers decreased<\/strong> as industrialized farming emerged. True: <a title=\"Industrialization of Agriculture\" href=\"http:\/\/www.aaes.auburn.edu\/comm\/pubs\/agind.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">According to this 1997 report to the USDA <\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>Plant diversity has been lost<\/strong> as industrial farming focused on seeds that produces more in less space.\u00a0 True: The pdf report by the Land Institute can be found here.\u00a0 Why is this important, think back to the Irish potato famine, close to a million people died from a massive crop failure as the Irish potato farms utilized only a few types of potatoes.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Fertilizers were born from the nitrogen based bombs<\/strong> in the early 1900&#8217;s. True: <a title=\"A Brief History of our Deadly Addiction to Nitrogen Fertilizer via Mother Earth News\" href=\"http:\/\/www.motherjones.com\/tom-philpott\/2013\/04\/history-nitrogen-fertilizer-ammonium-nitrate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">According to this report by Mother Earth News<\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>Remember DDT<\/strong>? This practice created pollution, birth defects and environmental concerns. Synthetic pesticides continue to be used then banned due to a multitude of health issues. <a title=\"Synthetic Pesticides\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bt.ucsd.edu\/synthetic_pesticide.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Read the University of San Diego report here<\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>Monsanto goes into seed modification<\/strong>, now seeds resistant to Round-up, seeds containing insecticide and then patents these seeds. Monsanto is allowed to patent seeds due to claims that the seeds are genetically different. True: <a title=\"Wikipedia: Monsanto\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Monsanto\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Read this Wikipedia report for details<\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>Monsanto routinely sues non GMO farmers that have seed cross pollination from GMO users in their area<\/strong>. Monsanto forces farmers to destroy seed that a lifetime of work and natural farming had produced due to patent infringement after the GMO seed contaminated the heirloom seed. True: Tons of cases to view when searching but here is one for your review: <a title=\"Wikipedia's Percy Schmeiser\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Percy_Schmeiser\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Wikipedia&#8217;s Percy Schmeiser vs Monsanto<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Product testing for GMO seeds isn&#8217;t done by the FDA.
