Haiti has endured another devastating event causing untold destruction. As I look at the news reports of Haiti after hurricane Matthew, I’m thinking of the Be Like Brit organization (BeLikeBrit) and of Britney Gengel.<\/h4>\n

Britney Gengel was a beautiful, fearless , and compassionate 19 year old when she decided to travel with her college, Lynn University, to the country of Haiti. Upon arrival, Britney was overwhelmed by the devastating poverty visible everywhere, but the love she received from the children she met, despite their conditions, inspired her to send the following text to her mother:<\/p>\n

“They love us so much and everyone is so happy. They love what they have and they work so hard to get nowhere, yet they are all so appreciative. I want to move here and start an orphanage myself.”<\/em>~ Britney Gengel sent this text to her Mom on 1\/12\/2010<\/small><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Within hours about sending that text, the earthquake that struck Haiti killed more that 230,000 people, including Britney Gengel. Her family wanted to honor their daughters last wish, started the BeLikeBrit foundation and started the orphanage Britney had hoped for.<\/p>\n

The foundation is doing a non perishable food drive to help the people of Haiti. The event is the eight and tenth of October in Massachusetts.<\/p>\n

The BeLikeBrit Operations Center at 66 Pullman St. Worcester, MA 01606 TODAY and Monday (closed Sunday) from 9AM-1PM to help us help our neighbors in Haiti recover from Hurricane Matthew! We will be collecting monetary donations, peanut butter, canned tuna, canned chicken, canned spam, canned ham, powdered milk, Tang, pasta, children\u2019s vitamins, over-the-counter pain reliever (Tylenol, Motrin), towels and bars of soap all to distribute to our community!!!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

They are asking for non perishable good from their wishlist<\/a>. There are many ways to help this impoverished nation. The foundation has multiple choices relating to support of their orphanage and the foundation.
