Fort Myers Beach
Our vacation started with a night on Fort Myers Beach, in a kitschy place called Lighthouse Resort Inn & Suites located in the Times Square area of the island. This stop was a place to unwind after our flight as everything we needed was within walking distance. We strolled down to the pier and pedestrian mall, watched local entertainment and artisan performers. On the pedestrian mall, Bistro dining and open air pubs lined the open paved walkway.
We didn’t eat on the mall, instead opted for The Yucatan Beach Stand, their featured performer, Wendel Ray, did a great job entertaining the crowd. The Yucatan has a nicely varied menu, we both chose salads with local fish and we’re not disappointed with the generous portions. We moved on as the coldest advertised beers, were served warm, the only negative thing about the place.
We ended our night at the resort Tiki bar and were not disappointed, the crowd was lively, the bartender entertained us with dance moves while mixing drinks. It was karaoke night, which earned its scarioke name a few times, there were some amazing singers however; margaritas by the bucket helped smooth things out. We headed up to our room early, thinking the crowd would keep us up, instead we found the room to be well insulated to the outside noise. The two bedroom two bath suite was well appointed and the beds very comfortable.
After a great nights sleep, we found ourselves at the tiki bar for a very nicely done breakfast. We ended our stay across the street with a stroll along the beach.
