Brewing Green Single Serve Coffee

Brewing Green Single Serve Coffee

We love our coffee, still, who doesn’t want that “Single Serve Easy Button” brewing option.  The drawback of single serve is waste, not only to the landfill, but the loss of compostable grounds. I started my journey to resolve Keurig’s waste filling ways,  yet struggled to find a resolution. Researching and trying multiple formats of single serve coffee takes time, I’ve also chatted up various innovators, to see what needs to happen to improve the original K-cup, anything to make a less wasteful brew.

We are hoping to discover resolution to the lazy man’s

“single serve compostable coffee” service.

Soon we will taste test two new coffee sources:

  • The “One Cup” pod system, which limits us to their choices, compatible with Keurig.
  • More excitingly, we will be taste testing Bulletproof Coffee, to be used in the JavaJig coffee single serve pod system.

I am very excited to taste test Bulletproof coffee, by itself, and using their blending recipe.

Why am I so excited you ask? This is due to their promise of a better tasting, less bitter (passive) organic coffee. This comes from a family coffee farm, which uses a cold water processing technique to remove the outer shell. This technique, according to the Bulletproof site, eliminates the occurrence of mycotoxins from forming. Bulletproof also claims their process: “is more expensive, but safer as it dramatically reduces harmful molds or bacteria from impacting your health.”

Bulletproof coffee wasn’t something we thought would become habit forming, it wasn’t bad, it just didn’t stand out in any way.  Plus, we soon discovered the best system yet; Bunn’s My Cafe, which I write about here:
