Yesterday was a big day, it seemed like a holiday, where was the man in red or his reindeer? I was too preoccupied to check for tracks outside.. Inside, I had the Kindle Fire in my hot little hands, it was love at first touch actually.. (I wrote about the Kindle Fire previously) The excitement started as soon as I awoke at 5am, I checked Amazon to see if it had shipped, not only had it shipped but tracking showed it was already en-route to my state. By 8am it was at the sorting facility down the street from my office and by 9am it was out for delivery.
Squeeeeeeeeeee I was dancing in my seat all day waiting be home with my precious.
Believe me I went straight home and whipped open the package! Okay, I love the packaging, simple and effective, no muss no fuss.. Just a box with a molded recyclable piece to support the Kindle Fire..
Initially I couldn’t get my Fire and my wireless to connect but a quick restart of the Fire did the trick and I started cruising. Have I mentioned how much I love the size of this unit.. LOVE..
Once I saw what I could do with the Kindle the transferring of information began, music went into the cloud, locating then loaded apps, found/bookmarked webpages.. surfing surfing, surfing.
I haven’t found anything yet that I haven’t liked about the Kindle Fire, of course I haven’t been out of WiFi range yet either.
As far as the apps go, I am finding everything that I like without issues, everything I use on both my Droid phone and the Ipad2 is now on the Kindle Fire. The 10,000 movies, Prime members have option to stream free, load quickly and easily, you can also connect to your Netflix account for additional movie options. Music, including playlists from Itunes, can be transferred to the unit or to Amazon’s cloud. The nice thing about the cloud is that you can listen from any device, no more hogging up my phone memory with tunage.
All the books I had present to my kindle arrived preloaded, reading is a breeze, resizing text is easy. You can change the color of the background as well, I haven’t done a test for ease of reading outside in the sunshine, yet. When browsing you can resize pages with the same finger movement as with an Ipad..
For now, I am still testing, playing and discovering the Kindle Fire, I will update more as I discover it.
What about you, what are your thoughts on the Kindle Fire, do you have one, want one or just want to see what the hub bub is all about?
I’m really more of a paper and ink kind of gal, I spend too many hours staring at a computer screen, if I am going to read, I want to hold a nice hardcover book in my hands.
Yes that is true, it is a different format for sure.
Niiice – I didn’t know that it came in colour!

I does come in color.. I love it so far too.
I’m all about the dead trees, but this looks slick. I’m seriously tempted.
Dead trees vs batteries… which is the lesser of the two evils, food for thought ….

I does take time to adjust to the digital version of reading but I love not having the paper and ink clutter around the house.
I think the Kindle fire is going to be a huge success. I haven’t seen it yet but I cant wait for it to come out. I think the most attractive part of the device is the fact that it is only 199 dollars while the ipad 2 is starting at 499. Plus you can hold the kindle with one hand while it takes 2 to hold the Ipad 2

I hardly turn on my laptop these days, only when I need to do a project, otherwise all I am on is the Fire. I think you would enjoy the Fire, I know I am.
