I am at a point in my life where I am becoming more aware of time.
How much has passed and how much is left.
While it has been hard realizing that the days of my youth are behind me I can say that I am happier, fitter and healthier than I was when I was younger, now what to do with that knowledge and myself.
I enjoy exploring my passions: fitness, gardening, foods, the environment along with technology. I have been expanding my technology skills while promising myself that I would also work on the fitness and nutritional aspects, I think that time has come. I fear the change, moving from my current career and doing something I have a passion for frightens me, what is holding me back? Like most humans, I find any type of change intimidating.
This morning I open my email to see this note,
I think it is a sign to move forward, what do you think?
Living healthfully is simple! Feeling great can be as easy as taking 12 steps to wellness:
1. Drink more water
2. Practice cooking
3. Increase whole grains
4. Increase sweet vegetables
5. Increase leafy green vegetables
6. Experiment with protein
7. Eat less meat, dairy, sugar and chemicalized, artificial junk foods; consume less coffee, alcohol and tobacco
8. Develop easy and reliable habits to nurture your body
9. Have healthy relationships that support you
10. Find physical activity you enjoy and do it regularly
11. Find work you love or a way to love the work you have
12. Develop a spiritual practice
As I read the list of 12 steps, mentally checking off my current activities, step 11 stops me in my visual tracks.. I can now see very clearly where I need to go with my choice. I spent the weekend lamenting as to what path to take and needed to make a decision by Monday the 3rd, the timing of this email couldn’t have been better. My current coursework ends next week, my thoughts have been what’s next: more technology or finally moving forward with fitness via: personal trainer or nutrition counseling.
While it would be beneficial to have my personal trainer certification, my passion lies in nutrition. This note comes from one institution of the many I have been researching, they have been on the top of my list due to online classwork, cost, reputation and support plus copious amounts of positive reviews from graduates.
I will take the step and move forward with my nutritional certification, doing so forces me to step outside of my comfort zone. This will not only be a nutritional certification but will certainly be a huge growth experience for me as I transition into this new role. The beauty of the process is that this fits in so well with my blog and my writing and I will be more than happy to share my experience and knowledge with all of you, I hope you will enjoy the journey with me.
Congratulations on your career choice. I’m sure you’re going to do well. As long as you like what you’re doing you’ll be just fine.
Thank you Bob.. I am still in the decision making process but getting closer to working out a plan.
Janet,
I thoroughly enjoyed this post, as I seem to be at the same crossroads. Best of luck with your nutrition classes. I look forward to reading about all that you learn!

Thank you Peggy, I certainly appreciate your comments and support. 🙂 What are your crossroads, I would like to know..
Hi Janet;
Wow, what a thought provoking way to get me pondering the path that’s before me. That bridge does look rather shakey.

The bridge does look shaky, in the end I decided to stay on the path and ford the divide. It does sound scary but once you cross everything seems to get brighter.
Janet, I wish I could process all this stuff like you do, I’m working on it, would love to be where you are in 2-4 years! Kudos, I know you will be a great success! I wish you were my neighbor! We could share, and I might actually DO something more than minor steps!
I will be signing up for the class in just a few short weeks then back to the study boards.. We all have things that each individual is good at or has an interest in, this happens to be mine.. It would be fun to be neighbors, I would love to be able to spend more time with you and helping with you as well.
