Facebook update dread
I have learned there will be a new roll out of changes since the ticker debacle that caused the huge outcry on September 23rd, well this should be interesting. I wonder how or if they discussed the release feedback during the F8 conference. According to Business Insider Facebook is concerned that they might lose part of their massive following so these changes, they hope, will keep them one step ahead of their competition. Apparently Google Plus must have scared the britches of them. (snicker) I would love to know your thoughts on these changes and how you think it might change how your use or feel about Facebook.
Some changes allow you to see if you were such a jerk in past year(s) that your old friend(s) did a 180 and unfriended you. Cheer up, Facebook lets you reapply so your newly discovered ex friend(s) can feel just as much of a jerk as you do for having beg to get back into their clique.
Facebook makes life feel just like high school again, errrr, tell me how this is supposed to help me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
Business Insider has posted a neat little piece detailing the changes that are coming down in their recent article titled: “This Is What Your New Facebook Profile Will Look Like In A Few Weeks.” In this piece Business Insider states:
“…Facebook allows you to create a “digital scrapbook” of your entire life, giving others a much more accurate picture of who you are and what you care about.”
Here is a bullet list of the updates the new Facebook Profile will offer:
- You can change a new “Cover” banner image to flaunt a photo you love. (but still see a grid view of the photo albums)
- You can still see the status updates on the new profile (but have to click “View Activity”)
- Allows you to point out or highlight important events in your life
- Your information can be store by timeline so someone can quickly see what you did by clicking on the date (better start photoshopping those extra cute high school pictures now)
- Facebook will even place extra focus on your event they deem to exciting for your friends to miss when visiting your profile. (You are given a choice as to what photos Facebooks uses in these updates)
- Lucky you, Facebook now gives you a summary of how many friends you did or didn’t make by the year. (Remember being such an ass in 2010 that everyone ditched you, here’s proof)(see below)
- Apparently you can now see who unfriends you (click here to see how this will work)
- You will also get a report on who you were tagged with the most. (oh great now even more pressure to “prove my friendship” waa why did you tag them more than me, you must like them more.. boo hoo)
- Facebook will now include spotlights on your most used apps! (better be careful visiting those questionable apps too often.)
- You can chose to hide people from your timeline. (thus making all of the above less embarrassing when relationships end or you have those “questionable” friends.
- Highlighting events is easy, clicking a star by them pumps them up..
- Add information at any point in your life’s timeline. (You may not have life do-overs but in Facebook can you go take your life back in time)
If you can’t wait to get this new profile then check out the information by Business Insider and be ahead of the curve.
2016 Update: the FB Purity cleans and removes much of the unwanted clutter from your facebooks feed and is easily customizable.
I am tired of having to relearn stuff on FB. I wish they would leave it alone for a while so I could just enjoy it. Thanks for the good article about the new FB update. Sally

Yes they keep rolling out upgrades, some aren’t bad but some are downright intrusive.
Ah Ha! The ever changing face and privacy issues of Facebook, sometimes it’s any wonder why we all still use it, I suppose once we get in to Facebooking and tweeting, we have a hard time leaving them 😉

Karen, I know.. we are all drawn in like moths to a flame.
Hi Janet;
Say it isn’t so! (Actually, I know it is so though). This is really getting frustrating when it comes to Facebook. All these changes so rapidly and close together are simply mind-numbing! Somewhere along the line FB should have figured out if you’re going to roll out changes, especially major changes like this, you do it all at once! Now that many are finally getting used to the most recent changes, we will have to wade through more changes!
Acck!
Leave it alone FaceBook! This is way too confusing.
