Sleepless nights, clock radios and dusting
In the spring of the year it is always nice to throw open the windows and let in the fresh air, that is until the huge pines across the street start to release their pollen. Then it becomes a waiting game as to when to give in and dust as a thick coating of yellow pollen coats everything.
But this is a spring event and we are approaching fall! I’m slow to get the one room, that faces the forest, clean as it takes a few tackles to get everything cleared of the gritty substance, plus, I didn’t clean the window screen like I usually do.
I was in this room as it happens to be my fitness room, when I got the idea to dust one thing between every set; I am a multitasker, two birds one stone is how I roll, well most of the time anyhow.
After my workout/dusting routine I move on to wiping down doors, mop boards and picture frames; I’ve had a nice productive workout in the meantime, everyone is happy and I feel refreshed.
So what does all of the above have to do with sleepless nights and clock radios you ask, other than the summertime and heat?
We are in the last weeks of August here and things are gearing towards the start of school, my neighbor is a teacher who tends to throw a summer’s end gathering for his teaching buddies. As I went to bed Sunday evening I could here talking and laughter so I shut my door to drown out the noise and finally went to slightly interrupted sleep.
The next night, I was just lying down when, again, I could hear soft laughter and bantering, two nights in a row with the gatherings, my neighbor is really living it up I think. Then on the third night it was more of the same, by now I wasn’t thinking happy thoughts, I was a bit annoyed that his social life was interfering with my sleep, until he decided to start a nice fire at 1am, running his chain saw to cut the wood ~ I snapped a bit.
That night I stood on my patio and sent him bat signal warnings with my trusty flashlight.. Shut, flash, off, flash, sissy electric chainsaw, flash, or face, flash, my wrath, flash flash flash.. but I digress… and finally went back to sleep, until around 3am when a blaring alarm went off in another room of the house!
The next morning my husband asked me why I had turned on the alarm clock in the workout room..
Cue the embarrassed smiley folks.
In Summary:
- Thankfully I didn’t go over and have a little chat with my neighbor about his disruptive partying three nights in a row.
- I have learned my lesson about dusting alarm clocks, perhaps just to skip the dusting next time…
- This is a silly post born of 3 sleepless nights and a foggy mind… Sometimes you just have to be silly to make the day go by..
Too funny 🙂

LOL! Oh my! Hmmm – it’s a good thing you didn’t decide to call the police too.
Hope you’re snoozing well now!

We have been sleeping downstairs all weekend and mostly likely will tonight if the winds pick up. Too many huge trees around the house to sleep comfortably in a high wind situation.
