Why does a salad cost more than a Big Mac
This post comes from “The Real Fitness Nerd” who kinda cracks me up a times..
This is what he had to say about subsidizing certain industries more than others:
“In case you’re not much of a graphic reader, American produce farmers get less than .5% of our federal food production subsidies. Apparently, congress feels dairy farming is far more challenging and therefore needs a little (lot) more help. Lame. Produce farming is every bit as hard. What do they think, that fruit just grows on trees?
Well, technically it does, I suppose, but you know what I’m talking about.”
He also provides an link to this article that discusses the subsidy program and is an interesting read: Good Medicine (PCRM)

I've always believed that it costs more to eat truly healthier than the norm, and articles like this prove it to me. My wife and I tend to buy in bulk at the beginning of the week to help minimize the costs, but overall since she eats way more vegetables than I do (I eat almost none lol) her meals end up costing way more than mine do.

While it might cost a little more to eat healthier you are getting better nutrition and more bang for your buck. Kuddos to your wife for making good nutrition choices and hopefully by buying in bulk you are saving a bit at the register.
