My Cluttered Desktop W4 June 2017

I’ve had so many things across my desktop lately, unfortunately it is in stolen moments of time. I haven’t had much time to myself as I’m doing what countless children have done, caring for a parent. Just days after her monumental birthday party, my mother was rushed and admitted to the hospital. After five days, they agreed to release her either to a nursing center or to her to her family. Tomorrow marks three weeks, I’m happy to report that my mother is on the mend and feeling better than she has in a long time.

We come from a very caring family, everyone brought their strengths to the table and collaborated with the best plan. At this time, my health and fitness background fit perfectly with the care needs for my mom. Conversing with her medical team went a bit deeper as I understood their language. Questions relating to her continued care and nutritional changes are definitely in my wheel house. I’ve read and studied about Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) and set forth a plan to make a difference.

With all my studies, certifications, and practical skills; I still felt the need to learn more. I went to both ACE and IDEA for answers as to the best way to care for an individual with my mother’s medical concerns. I spoke Ace who response that a Health Coach certification would be the best answer for my needs.

ACE health coaching are approved by: National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA), the same body that accredited certifications for athletic trainers, nurse practitioners, occupational therapists, registered dietitians and many other health professions. Additionally, the ACE Health Coach Certification is approved by the International Consortium for Health & Wellness Coaching (ICHWC)”

What does a health coach do you might ask?

Health Coaching as explained by ACE:

“Health coaches are trained to help clients address the behavioral factors and habits that affect a wide range of issues, including smoking, inactivity and stress. From the overworked executive to the first-time mother adjusting to life with a newborn, health coaches can offer the guidance and tools people need to overcome challenges and regain a greater level of health and well-being.”

I’m in the process of adding Certified Health Coach to my arsenal of nutrition and fitness training:

  • ACE certified Personal Trainer
  • Precision Nutrition Sport and Fitness Coach
  • ETP Performance Coach L1 & L2

Specialty courses relating to:

  • Women and Metabolism,
  • Peri/Post Menopause
  • Hormonal Balance for Weight Loss

I also discovered that Joanna Gaines isn’t leaving Fixer Upper to focus on a new career in facial products. I’m thankful for the little things and my guilty pleasure of being addicted to her show.
